Shoshinge gyofu

On this page you can listen to, and chant along with Chanting Instructor Rev. Katsuya Kusunoki, chanting Shoshinge (Gyofu) [正信念仏偈]. Chanting with others is fulfilling on many levels. So we hope you enjoy the embedded Vimeo video and feel connected in the Nembutsu.

You will see the video below plus links to download the text in the BCA Shin Buddhist Service Book, as well as the text in-line so you can chant along in this page while the Vimeo video plays.

About this content:

Rev. Kusunoki, currently Head Minister of the Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple, visited Midwest Buddhist Temple (MBT) in Chicago IL in 2015 to offer chanting instruction and fellowship. MBT were able, thanks in part to Rev. Gyodo Kono Fund, to record and share a few solo chanting videos by Rev. Kusunoki. The chants are a series of traditional Sutras and Hymns from the Jodo Shinshu canon.

Rev. Kusunoki has been certified as a “chanting instructor” by the Ritual Department of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji (international Jodo Shinshu headquarters). And as such provides us with a very good example of correct style and form.
